The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) reminds the public that several facilities in north Mississippi remain temporarily closed as recovery efforts continue following the January ice storm.

The following locations remain closed at this time:

  • Wall Doxey State Park
  • J.P. Coleman State Park
  • George P. Cossar State Park
  • John W. Kyle State Park
  • Tippah County Lake

These closures remain necessary due to ongoing cleanup efforts, including the removal of storm debris, downed trees, and other hazards that pose potential safety risks to visitors and staff. Widespread impacts from the January ice storm caused significant damage across these properties, and crews are continuing to work diligently to restore safe access.

MDWFP will continue to assess the situation daily and notify the public of any further cancellations or extensions.

For the latest updates regarding park status and reopening dates, please visit the MDWFP website or follow Mississippi State Parks on social media.
