Clarkco State Park celebrates grand re-opening

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) celebrated the grand re-opening of Clarkco State Park in Quitman, Mississippi, with a special event on March 19, 2026. The day began with a morning social, followed by a special program with remarks from Mississippi Representative Troy Smith. Guests then had the opportunity to tour the newly renovated campground and cabins.

“The renovations at Clarkco State Park mark an important milestone for our agency,” said Lynn Posey, MDWFP Executive Director. “We are proud to welcome visitors back to experience the park’s historic significance while also enjoying its modernized amenities.”

Clarkco State Park now features 43 newly updated campsites for RV camping along with a renovated lodge and bathhouse. Each RV campsite offers full hookups including water, electricity, and sewer, as well as a picnic table and grill. These new amenities make Clarkco State Park the ideal destination for RV campers to enjoy Mississippi’s great outdoors.

In addition to the updated campsites, Clarkco State Park also has six newly renovated cabins. Each renovated cabin includes all new stainless steel kitchen appliances (refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee station), new dining area with solid surface countertops, new living room furniture with a flatscreen and satellite TV, new bedroom furniture and bathrooms with new walk-in fiberglass shower, new outdoor porch with picnic table, firepit, and grill, and new screened in back porch with outdoor furniture.

Guests can enjoy weekend long activities at the park such as fishing, boating, day-use area including playground, nature trail, disc golf, tennis courts, and pickle ball. Entry fee to the park is $2.00 per person and children ages 5 and under are free.
