The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) encourages families to start the new year on a healthy and fun note by attending First Day Hikes on January 1, 2026. Select Mississippi State Parks will offer guided hikes, refreshments, and activities for participants of all ages.

First Day Hikes is a nationwide program spearheaded by America’s State Parks to promote outdoor activity. The initiative coordinates hundreds of free, guided hikes across all 50 states every New Year’s Day, providing a perfect opportunity to experience the natural beauty of state parks.
