The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is notifying visitors of temporary boat access adjustments at Paul B. Johnson and Percy Quin State Parks in honor of the America 250 Fourth of July celebrations. These temporary adjustments will help ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.
At Paul B. Johnson State Park, lake access for boats will be temporarily closed from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, July 3, while water-based activities and holiday events take place.
At Percy Quin State Park, boat access to the lake will be limited throughout the day on both July 3 and July 4 due to planned Fourth of July events and activities. Only overnight guests will be permitted lake access, but must coordinate with park staff regarding designated launch and retrieval times.
These temporary closures apply only to boat access. Guests will still be able to access the lakes for bank fishing during the scheduled closure periods.
MDWFP appreciates the public’s cooperation as state parks prepare for America 250 celebrations across Mississippi. For more information visit https://www.mdwfp.com/america250.
