MDWFP shares chronic wasting disease educational presentation

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) hosted an educational presentation on chronic wasting disease (CWD) prior to the July meeting of the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.

During the presentation, MDWFP Deer Program Coordinator William McKinley provided an overview of the latest CWD research, what biologists have learned about the disease, and how hunters can help protect Mississippi’s deer herd. He emphasized the importance of deer management in fighting CWD and the critical role hunters play through population management, disease surveillance, and responsible stewardship.

Those who were unable to watch the presentation live are encouraged to view the recording on the MDWFP YouTube channel to stay informed about CWD and Mississippi’s ongoing management efforts.
