Officials with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources announced today that the recreational fishing seasons for Gag (Mycteroperca microlepsis) and Greater Amberjack (Seriola dumerili) will open in Mississippi territorial waters on Sept. 1, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. local time.
The recreational fishing season for Gag will close on Oct. 1, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. local time, and the recreational fishing season for Greater Amberjack will close on Oct. 14, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. local time.
