September marks the start of hunting seasons for many in the Magnolia State, with opportunities ranging from dove hunting, velvet season for deer, and cooler weather for fishing. These traditions not only connect Mississippians with the outdoors but also contribute significantly to conservation and the state’s local and statewide economy.
This year, Governor Reeves has proclaimed Sept. 26, 2026, as National Hunting and Fishing Day in Mississippi. Hunters and anglers across our state contribute millions each year through the American System of Conservation Funding – boosting our economy and protecting our natural resources.
