Artificial reef formed off Mississippi Coast

An artificial reef recently was placed 23 miles off the Mississippi coast in 85 feet to enhance fishing in the popular Fish Haven 13 area, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources announced today (Nov. 2).

Congressional bill would protect offshore structures for use as artificial reefs

Legislation introduced in the U.S. Congress that would prevent rigs and other Gulf of Mexico structures from being removed as ordered by the U.S. Department of Interior should be passed, the Coastal Conservation Association said today.

Saltwater fishing records for bigeye tuna and creolefish were certified Tuesday (June 21) as state records by the Commisssion on Marine Resources. Both record-breaking catches were made last month.
